The American Guard Responds To Seizures Of Weapons And Ammunition in U.S. Territories During Hurricane Irma
For Immediate Release:
The American Guard Condemns The Confiscation of Firearms and Ammunition in the US Virgin Islands
On September 4, 2017, U.S. Virgin Islands Governor, Kenneth Mapp, signed an order authorizing the National Guard to confiscate all weapons, ammunition, incendiary/explosive devices on the islands. Even more ominous for the sacred principles we were founded to support and defend, was an additional vague authorization to seize any other “property they may need to respond to Hurricane Irma”. During Hurricane Katrina there were reports of gun confiscations in Louisiana, and the fact a trend is emerging makes it important to denounce these activities, and to do so in a public manner to raise awareness about these shocking assaults on the inalienable rights of man, enshrined in the Bill of Rights.
The right to keep and bear arms is arguably the most important right of all, for it defends the rest of them. Natural Disaster is second only to invasion as the most important time to be armed, and to deprive the populace of weapons in such a condition is reprehensible. Kenneth Mapp should be removed from office, and any means of redress through litigation and legislation should be undertaken to restore the property of any affected, and prevent this practice in the future.
